Above the Clouds

This week-end we were above the clouds in Faqra resort (as seen in pic). RS and I, along with a member of another blog (arabisraelipeace.blogspot.com) decided we needed a really relaxing time-off from the city, the news and the politics. What better way then to head to the peaceful mountain resort where there is no humidity or heat. It was perfect timing as the war was over and we really deserved some quiet from the 30+ day nightmare we lived through continously.
But it was too good to be true. As soon as we arrived Friday evening to the stunning mountain resort, all we could hear were jet fighters and helicopters flying right above our heads. It was so loud we couldn't believe it was the Israelis. But it was. At that specific moment, the IAF was conducting mock up attacks on the city of Baalbeck, some 30-kilometers from our location. And a couple of hours later, IDF commandos landed in the same area and performed ground operations, over 100-km from the Israeli-Lebanese border. This was a major breach of the cease-fire agreement. I wonder what the Israeli government has planned for what it called "the next round" against Hizbullah.
Maybe we were wrong to dream that the war would be over...

To Sam: Please read the following facts (maybe they are also made up by all news agencies in the world).

Aug. 20 (Bloomberg) -- United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan is ``deeply concerned'' about Israel's raid two days ago in eastern Lebanon that endangers the ``fragile calm'' in the region, Annan's spokesman said.

Israel said yesterday its special forces conducted the raid to prevent arms being smuggled to Hezbollah, designated a terrorist group by the U.S. and Israel, from Iran and Syria, five days after a UN-brokered cease-fire came into effect.

``The secretary-general is deeply concerned about a violation by the Israeli side of the cessation of hostilities,'' Annan's spokesman Stephane Dujarric said late yesterday in a statement on the UN Web site, referring to the raid.

Israel and Shiite Muslim Hezbollah on Aug. 14 implemented Security Council resolution 1701 that demands an end to the hostilities that began on July 12, when the Lebanese-based group abducted two Israeli soldiers.

``All such violations of Security Council Resolution 1701 endanger the fragile calm that was reached after much negotiation,'' Dujarric said, adding there have also been ``several'' air violations by Israeli military aircraft.

Mrtez:

Please don't get sucked into a meaningless argument based on nonsense. You are being baited by one of the infantile posters who have become bored with humanity and want only to hear themselves rant. They are brats running around loose with no parental control.

What Israel has done and continues doing demonstrates how disasters are created by low intelligence and high self-esteem. Olmert makes George Bush look like a class valedictorian. How he can possibly do these things while pretending to want resolution is simply incredible. Unless, of course, he didn't get the word from Cheney that the planned assault on Iran has been shelved.

Olmert does not have the sense to realize he makes Hezbollah look like the thoughtfully restrained party to this disaster. Olmert is a bully with a whip who gets away with it for so long as his own Israelis support him and George Bush is too embarrassed to call him to heel. But Bush is taking a beating domestically over his incompetent handling of everything from Hurricane Katrina to Iraq and all things in between. There are a lot of thoughtful, compassionate Israelis who soon will be saying about Olmert the kinds of things Americans are saying about Bush. And Olmert will be either silenced or removed.

In the meantime, though - don't get sucked into the mentally draining and completely frustrating position of arguing with or trying to educate an idiot.

i told you that Mr. Sam, the OC, lives in his own dreamworld, who doesnt know left from right and right from right...poor guy.

Anyways, I am not surprised that the IDF was the first to break the cease fire--and neither should you be. Do not expect anything less from them as they could give a shit about what everyone in the intl community (and in Israel) thinks about their asanine operations..

There is absolutely no justification to breach the cease fire--none on both sides--as it could trigger HZ and/or the IDF. Personally, I think HZ is too smart for that (i.e. smuggle in weapons at this point), but dont be surprised if HZ responds in full force to those IDF breaches of the cease fire as they did this weekend (killing and injuring IDF soldiers).

the tricky part will be the interaction btw HZ and the Leb army.

Okay guys, you can't be that slow witted or maybe so. Look at the sigmature on the post, "FACK". That is a diff preson and he always signs my name becasue he's affraid od posting under his own. My views are my views and where I live has nothing to do with it. Maya, you can go to hell for all I care.

Hcb is a child that deserves no respect yet tries demanding it with stories.

Mrtez I see nothing wrong with you, your approach is fine. Reason and explanation is the way to go. Not attacking me and where I live. This is the real Sam. Fack doesn't even know 5 cities inside the OC.

Real-Sam, wasted space.

Do not critique the style of response to you, but rather the content.

Doesnt matter if you live near the OC, or not...there are idiots everywhere. its not an attack against you, dont take it personal...i dont care if you are the real sam or some fake one...

why dont you talk about real issues, instead of complaining he said, she said...you are playing out the scenario of the Israeli war....nothing accomplished only destruction.

I told you that it doesnt matter where you live. I mentioned OC because that's what I knew of you, the real Sam.....I live next to the OC myself..It has nothing to do with you. Your dreamworld is in your mind, not your zipcode.

I am done responding to you, wasting my time. What do you think about the cease fire breach?

On vacation? Must of had photography supplies!! Where's the vacation photos of the IDF's planes flying over and cammandos performing ground operations. Seeing is believing. Get it on film, your words and eyewitness reports are meaningless in the world today. If you want someone to believe, you must have the evidence.

7:49 PM

does thousands of eye-witnesses, two dead IDF soldiers and UN response to that cease fire breach constitute evidence?

7:53 PM

Seeing is believing huh? So the film of Rodney King being beaten up is real, why did the police go free? LA was wracked with violence, attacks and some deaths. The film showed 100% that the police were in the wrong. Video and films don't mean anything, it's all interpertaion anyway. Plus now the pics are being altered to sway public opinion so there is no more truth from a photo or a reporter. People even use bosies mulitpal times and or actors to make a scene fit their needs.

It truly is a shame, Mrtez - for your wide open blog to be so abused. Serious thinkng people want to talk seriously but the idiots on the side keep clamoring to be heard because they think it makes them look smarter. And now we even have an argument about which poster is the REAL idiot.

The good news is the people like "Sam" and "Real-Sam" and "Wannabe-Sam" not only have nothing of value to say, they know it and make it so apparent they can easily be ignored. That's what I intended to suggest earlier and that's my understanding of what Maya was suggesting as well.

Still at it Hcb, no one cares what is being said here anyway. Everyone just says what they like and keeps the story the same. No one wants to fix anything they want to chat about it. Point fingers and feel good because they think that becasue they post in a blog that they're current and or involved. This site is great for the purpose and people like you are prime people to keep this conflict going in the wrong direction.

Then after you do that some may be more concerened about your posts. You're an instagator to the abuse of this site big time. Sad to say but very true.

Mrtez - it's mostly been a pleasure to converse with thoughtful people on your blog and to read your posts. But it appears the blog has been taken over by people who simply want to trade insults. There's no reasoned argument or principled suggestions or even observations being made - simply insult heaped on filthy insult.

I know you neither intended nor anticipated that would happen but it has. I will continue my conversations with some of the thoughtful people here on other blogs of which I'm certain you are aware. But I won't mention them here for obvious reasons.

I'll wish you well and thank you for the insights I've gained from your blog over the past several weeks.

What do you mean, aren't they both guilty of insulting people too? People who don't agree, people who think on their own. Lilu not so much but HCB is very guilty of using the split tounge. why do you complain about people complaining...stop responding and say something important and meaningful.

I will start: which country's troops would be most important to deploy in S. Lebanon? Italy, France? Israel already said it will not recognize Indonesia/Malaysia (who are willing to give troops) because they dont recognize Israel as a state. Well, Leb does not as well and they are deploying their army. Any comments?

Your comments about your attempt to get away remind me of the lyrics to an old song by a duo in the United States who used to sing together. You might have heard of one of them, Paul Simon. He and Art Garfunkel recorded a song called "Save The Life Of My Child" and the end lyrics go like this:
"Oh my Grace, I've got no hiding place." Comment made by Ruth Rader, author of the blog "Ruthie In The Sky"

The EU troops won't be there for a long time. France is only comitting 400 troops, why even do that? No US troops ever, never again in Leb. There was enough US blood spilled there, never again. Let the countries with nothing to lose do the dirty work and sacrafice thier own. The other countries just want a reason to start something with Israel, they all hate the jews anyway. Muslim radicals know no country only death and suffereing to further their cause. The countries that are securing the world are busy and don't want to be hasseled with a no win situation plus Israel is fine on it's own. It only needs supplies not men which is not true for Leb / HB. The are using Iranian soldiers, Syria soldiers and other extremists. So it doesn't matter which country sends them, they're seconds at best. Targets would be more like it. HB doens't want USA/GB/Ausi or any counrty that will retaliate when they use the UM peace keepers as human shileds.

1:08 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I complain becasue it fits this blog, read all posts and you'll know it's true.

I mean shileds just like the HB used the Lebonese people. If they don't care about your safety do you think they give a hoot about someone from a different country?

1:17 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's also and esier way to have the Iranian/Syria/HB war machine train more terrorists right under the Un/USA/Israeli's nose. They need it becasue groups like the Tigers are needing better training to wipe out more civilians in their own country. So Mr Tom in Iran see;s this as a great situation, train them in Leb and have the UN sanction it. They can practice on Islrael and get away with it becasue all of the pro [whiners] will say it was all Israels fault.

Nothing side note: I think the troops to make the south part of the country secure would be Canadian's. They're so in between everything and everyone they would be perfect. Great mix of nationalities and religon's too. So use them for once, they've been sitting on the sidelines far to long and judging the actions of those that do participate.

If this will not eradicate the childish conversations, then we will have to report abuse of the users who continue on insulting and bashing.
Sorry, this is not the way we intended to do things. We wanted an open forum, but it seems there is too much bashing going on. From now on, the amount of comments will be reduced, but hopefully it will also increase the quality.
